Please join us in celebrating our first Pūhoro STEMM Academy Summer intern, Alice Boyd. Alice studies dentistry at the University of Otago and has completed an eight week research internship in our team under the supervision of Dr Neroli Thomson. During her research, Alice explored the application of functionalised bioparticles as a preventative solution in rootcanal procedures to minimize infection with Enterococcus faecalis. Alice presented her work at the recent Riddet Summer Student Seminar and was a selected speaker at the Pūhoro Pō Whakanui celebration. We wish her a wonderful semester ahead and are looking forward to welcoming her back in the future to continue her research.
